Why Entech Wednesday: Gary Goodwin

About Gary

I am married to an elementary school teacher, and I am a father to two young men working as developers in the software industry. I have been in the software business for over 20 years, starting in technical support, and changing my role several times when opportunities opened in project and product management. Before the software industry, I put myself through college as a music major by working in restaurants at various positions for 20+ years. During that period of my life, things went from simple registers and paper checks to point of sale systems that were used in the front of the house. This required you to learn the hardware and software in the back of the house to set this up and maintain it to keep the business rolling. It peaked my interest to move away from the food industry to working for companies that made this magic happen. I am still the cook in the family and do enjoy a good meal (and a good glass of wine). Oh, and regarding my major, I am still very active in music playing in full big bands, classic rock groups, small jazz combo’s, wind symphony’s and pit orchestras, to solo work on a variety of musical instruments and vocals. I also led worship at several church’s for close to 15 years.

Why Gary chose Entech

I joined Entech in 2016. I liked it because it was a fairly small company, but this small team was making big things happen with their software. It somewhat reminds me of what I mention above. This industry used to be paperwork, a manual process. With our interface, a borrower can start, manage, and track everything from PC, tablet, or phone, and the end users have the luxury of this well-oiled machine that tracks and drives this process. I love a challenge – I am proud of my work ethic and the work that I do helping our customers, my coworkers, and the product.
